
We only use vegetable oils in the production of our Lorenz Snack products. When deep-frying our chips in Germany, for example, we use a particularly high quality sunflower oil with a high percentage of monounsaturated fatty acids.
The fact that these valuable ingredients remain intact at high temperatures is a feature of the "High Oleic" varieties of sunflower. This plant has been specially bred for our requirements - with no genetic modification - and grows well in South and South-Eastern Europe.
Our increasing use of sunflower oil and similar sustainable vegetable oils means that by 2015 we will have largely replaced the conventional palm oil that is currently still used. Where this is not possible for technological or economic reasons we will only use palm oil from demonstrably sustainable sources. This gives us a good alternative in terms of a healthy diet and a sustainable approach.
